DESCRIPTION:Asahna Bucha is a national Holiday in Thailand. \nBuddhist Lent. \nThis day\, the first full moon of the eighth lunar month commemorates the Buddha’s first sermon in the Deer Park in Benares\, India and the founding of the Buddhist sangha (monkhood) about 2\,500 years ago. \nTo mark the day\, ceremonies are held in Buddhist temples across Thailand. Many Thai people return to their ancestral homes to donate offerings to temples and listen to sermons.  Traditionally\, candles are amongst the items donated to the wat for Asahna Bucha and processions featuring candles are held at various towns in Thailand.

DESCRIPTION:Asahna Bucha Day is one of the most important events in the Buddhist calendar commemorating the occasion when Buddha delivered his first sermon. The exact date of Asahna Bucha varies from year to year depending on the lunar calendar\, but usually falls in July or August. Asahna Bucha Day is a public holiday in Thailand and although most businesses remain open as usual\, government offices are closed.\nThe day after Asahna Bucha is known as Wan Khao Phansa and marks the start of the three-month ‘Phansa‘ period. This is the rains retreat period when monks would traditionally stay within the confines of their own temple. The Phansa retreat period is sometimes referred to as ‘Buddhist Lent’.

DESCRIPTION:The only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and Queen Sirikit\, he was made crown prince by his father in 1972\, at the age of 20. After his father’s death on 13 October 2016\, he was expected to ascend to the Thai throne but asked for time to mourn before taking the throne.[4] He accepted the throne on the night of 1 December 2016. His coronation took place from 4–6 May 2019.
