SUMMARY:Children's Day Thailand
DESCRIPTION:In Thailand\, in addition to celebrations for Mother’s and Father’s Day\, there is also a holiday dedicated to children. Wan Dek\, or Children’s Day\, is celebrated annually on the second Saturday in January. \nWan Dek is historically a day where parents celebrate their children and reinforce good examples and values. Nationally\, it is a day to recognize the development that children have made and will make to the future of the country. These days it’s all about children having fun and parents being grateful for the part they play in bonding families and enriching lives. \nThai people celebrate Thai Children’s Day by taking their kids out for fun educational activities. Many public services and establishments\, such as the various zoos and wildlife parks throughout the country\, Thai Red Cross Museum\, Museum Siam\, Government House\, Parliament House\, and various military bases of the Thai navy\, army\, and air force organize special events for children\, many of which are free of charge.

SUMMARY:Udon Thani’s Red Lotus Sea
DESCRIPTION:In Udon Thani’s northeastern province\, the “Red Lotus Sea” (Talay Bua Daeng) blooms this season. Millions of pink water lilies cover Nong Han Lake\, about 40 kilometers from the city. To witness this spectacle\, arrive early in the morning (around 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM) before the sun intensifies and the flowers close. \nThe Red Lotus Sea (although most of the flowers are more pink or crimson than they are red) is about 45km south east from the Udon Thani ring road\, at Lake Nong Han on the banks of Ban Diam\, in the Kumphawadpi Reserve. The beauty of the lake is best witnessed in the low season\, between November and late February. The Red aquatic flowers begin to bloom in October\, following the rainy season\, reaching full bloom in December through to late January. \n \n  \nThe best time of day to visit is between 6.00am until around 10.00am. If the day is cloudy (as it was when I recently visited)\, a visit at any time should provide the best display as the blooms remain open when the sun is not bearing down on them. \nA boat ride lasts 90-120 minutes and are available all day. Most people like to start the ride from 6-11am because weather is not too hot. In addition to the dark red lotuses\, there are birds and other aquatic plants to admire. \nOther than the vast numbers of flowers present\, the Red Lotus Sea also holds the position of the world’s second strangest lakes by Travel & Leisure. The lake covers a large area\, (about 68 square kilometers) being 15km long and 5km at the widest point. \n  \n \n  \nThailand Travel Guide 2025\, What You Need To Know

SUMMARY:Yi Peng lantern festival
DESCRIPTION:Loy Krathong coincides with the Lanna (northern Thai) festival known as Yi Peng. Yi means ‘two’ and peng means a ‘full moon day’. Yi Peng refers to the full moon day in the second month according to the Lanna lunar calendar (the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar).[32] The festival is meant as a time to make merit. \nSwarms of sky lanterns (Thai: โคมลอย; RTGS: khom loi)\, literally: ‘floating lanterns’\, are launched into the air. Khom loi are made from a thin fabric\, such as rice paper\, stretched over a bamboo or wire frame\, to which a candle or fuel cell is attached. When the fuel cell is lit\, the resulting hot air is trapped inside the lantern and creates enough lift for the khom loi to float into the sky. During the festival\, some people also decorate their houses\, gardens\, and temples with khom fai (Thai: โคมไฟ)\, intricately shaped paper lanterns which take on different forms. \nChiang Mai Tips: \n\nNo need to buy tickets or pay. From Tha Phae Gate square along Tha Phae Road\, down to the Ping River are all free festivities.\nParade along Tha Phae Road is free.\nCan purchase Lanterns from vendors along the way.\nCan purchase Krathong’s and release in the river across the bridge.\nThe old city hotels fill up\, so book as soon as possible.\n\n \n  \nThe Best Cheap Affordable Hotels In Chiang Mai We Love \n \nBook Your Hotel In Advance\, Chiang Mai Get Crowded. \n \n

SUMMARY:Loy Krathong Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:Loy Krathong is a Thai festival celebrated annually throughout Thailand and in nearby countries with significant South Western Thai cultures (Laos\, Shan\, Mon\, Tanintharyi\, Kelantan\, Kedah\, and Xishuangbanna). The name could be translated as “to float ritual vessel or lamp\,” and comes from the tradition of making Krathong or buoyant\, decorated baskets\, which are then floated on a river. Many Thais use the Krathong to thank the Goddess of Water and River\, Goddess Khongkha or to worship the Holy Buddha’s hair pagoda in heaven in Buddhist beliefs. This festival traces its origin back to India. \nLoy Krathong takes place on the evening of the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar\, so the exact date of the festival changes every year. In the Western calendar this usually falls in the month of November. In Chiang Mai\, the festival lasts three days. \nYi Peng is taking place at the same time\, with it’s epic lantern festivals. \nChiang Mai Tips: \n\nNo need to buy tickets or pay.
