(Updated Nov 2024) The Bangkok region has more than it’s share of the best golf courses in the country. This is why the region has become a golf destination for tourists and local Thai. Many new top courses have been built in the last 20 years. And why we created the Ultimate Golf Guide for this area to help guide you where to play. Bangkok itself has over 50 courses, and the area southeast around Pattaya another 30.
As a result of the affordability, travelers on any budget can afford to play at the best golf courses in Thailand. There are now annual professional tour events around Thailand, such as the Honda LPGA Thailand Open, in Pattaya.
Also if you don’t want to bring your clubs to play the best golf courses, most can supply you with all you need for a small rental fee.
I would always recommend asking first what sort of promotions or deals they are offering. Don’t be afraid to do a little bargaining as well especially if you are there in the off season, which is the rainy summer months.
Tip: If your not going to Thailand primarily to golf, and you don’t want to haul your clubs around, most courses rent decent ones for about 300 baht. Also note that most international airlines allow you to bring your clubs as part of your check baggage allowance. I have done so on multiple airlines with no issues.
If you are planning to play some of the best golf courses in Thailand, you will need to do some research. This is because there are so many amazing courses all over the country. You don’t really need to plan a region in Thailand to go to to play the best golf, because all the major areas have plenty. Check out our guide to the best golf in Chiang Mai province.
Once again, check their websites and Facebook pages for promotions and deals, they always have them. If you are able to go with a resident, rates will be half as much what is listed. Always ask for their deals.

Bangkok’s Best Golf Courses
Alpine Golf Club
Alpine Golf Club is located 20 minutes north of Don Muang Airport just outside greater Bangkok. As you drive to the course from the center of the town, there is a perceptible shift from the concrete of the city to a more rural palette around Alpine. This best golf course itself is a lush paradise within the rustic surrounds and in some ways more resembles a botanical garden specializing in the exhibition of palms.
Renowned best golf course architect Ron M. Garl set out to create a hilly golf course amid fresh air, beautiful lakes and dazzling tree-lined scenery. Mission accomplished. Bangkok’s Alpine Golf Club is one of Asia’s finest man-made, hilly championship golf courses.
Book with Viator. This private trip includes round-trip transportation between Bangkok hotels and Alpine Golf Club, plus greens fee, cart and caddy fees for 18 holes.
Lam Luk Ka Country Club
Lam Luk Ka Country Club is just a short drive from Bangkok’s thriving metropolis. Golfers here will savor the experience of playing at the city’s wetlands, with over 10,000 trees and waterways providing homes to over 100 species of birds and wildlife.
Lam Luk Ka is a beautiful 36-hole golf facility, good value compared to other golf courses in Bangkok as two of their 18 holes are generally empty. Tee times are easily accessible and green fees are lower than comparable facilities.
Thai Country Club
Thai Country Club is an award winning best golf course east of the city, and just south of Lam Luk Ka Country Club. It attracts both professional and amateur golfers from around the world.
This prestigious club, established in 1996, has quickly risen to fame, hosting several international tournaments, including the Honda Classic. The course, designed by the renowned Denis Griffiths, strikes a perfect balance between aesthetic beauty and challenging play. It features rolling fairways, spread over a well-manicured landscape with strategically placed bunkers, and smooth and fast greens that test the skill of every golfer.
Muang Kaew Golf Club
Although Muang Kaew Golf Club is one of the closest and best golf courses to central Bangkok and also the airport. The many trees and lakes insulate you from the city. One of the best maintained and enjoyable golf courses in Bangkok which was totally redesigned by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley a few years ago and is now a firm favorite on the Bangkok golfing scene.
Nikanti Golf Club
Nikanti is one of the best golf courses west of the city center, by about an hours drive. Known for its all-inclusive experience, this club includes meals and caddie tips in the green fee. The course layout is imaginative and well-maintained.
Nikanti’s facilities are stunning examples of modern functional design coupled with exquisite dining experiences. Elevated to provide commanding views over the golf course, it features the most modern and comfortable lounges, restaurants and locker room facilities of any golf course in Asia.
Set amidst the beautiful, rolling landscape on the outskirts of Bangkok, Nikanti offers a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. The course features a blend of undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and well-manicured greens, requiring thoughtful strategy and precision play. The club’s modern, elegant clubhouse provides top-notch facilities and dining options, enhancing the overall golfing experience.
The RG Salaya Golf Resort
RG Salaya is formerly known as Royal Gems, it is also located west of Bangkok city center, but much closer than Nikanti. This unique course features holes inspired by famous courses worldwide, including Augusta National’s back nine. It’s a must-play for those wanting a distinctive golf experience.
While the abundance of water and sand hazards makes for a challenging course, golfers of all abilities will enjoy this wonderful course thanks to multiple tee boxes.

Navatanee Golf Course
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Navatanee is known for its strategic layout and hosted the World Cup of Golf in 1975.
The golf course located close to downtown Bangkok has only improved with time and remains one of Bangkok’s most beautiful courses. The play is strictly for members only during weekends, but the course does allow international guests to play during weekdays.
Suwan Golf & Country Club
Opened on November 19, 2005, Suwan Golf & Country Club is the proud home one of the most exciting and challenging golf courses in Asia. Just 45 minutes from the city, and offers wonderful accommodations as well. I recommend booking through Agoda for a better rate.
It is a challenging course set in the countryside outside Bangkok in a wonderful rural setting. Has won a number of awards and has hosted several major tournaments. A difficult layout with many elevation changes and well-placed hazards.
Book rooms through Agoda.
Riverdale Golf Club
Riverdale Golf Club is one of a few excellent Bangkok golf courses. Jonathan Morrow and Al Tikkanen designed and like Red Mountain, their other high-profile Phuket golf course, Riverdale makes good use of intelligent routing and elevation changes. Riverdale may not at first glance look the most challenging test of golf, but it is.
Krungthep Kreetha Golf Course
Krungthep Kreetha Golf Course is one of the old courses near Bangkok city center and features an attractive layout with big and mature trees. The course was opened long before the Thailand golf boom and among locals, it is one of the most know and best golf courses in Bangkok.
In the mid 1990s the Krungthep Kreetha site was entirely redesigned and renovated by James R. Vaughn. The present course layout brings many water hazards into play, these coupled with mature trees and numerous out of bounds.
Krungthep Kreetha golf courses’ close proximity to downtown Bangkok makes this course popular with members, locals, and businessman, so early tee time bookings are suggested.
Thana City Golf Club
Thana City is Thailand’s only Greg Norman-designed golf course and is close to Bangkok center. The 6,966-yard par-72 course shares the land with one of Bangkok’s most significant condominium projects and abuts Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. Jet planes swoop overhead seeming as if they are landing on a fairway; they are that close!
Conveniently located 25 minutes from downtown Bangkok at kilometer 14 on the Bangna-Trad highway, Thana City Country Club was built in 1993.
Thana City Country Club has been completely redeveloped and rebranded in 2018 to provide families, couples and individuals with a complete range of athletic, recreational and lifestyle facilities.
This recreational resort is another excellent place stay stay overnight.

Ayutthaya Golf Club
Ayutthaya Golf Club located in Ayutthaya Province is around 1:30 from Bangkok center. The locally designed and well-maintained course is relatively easy to play with generous fairways and large greens. If you want to go visit the ancient city and amazing cultural sights, this is one of the best golf getaways from the city.
For the low price this is a very well maintained course. Rate deals are available on their website.
Book a hotel in Ayutthaya on Agoda. And find out more on this Unesco World Heritage site in our Bangkok Day Trips article.
The clubhouse and other facilities are better than most area courses, and the dry sauna in both the men’s and ladies changing rooms is a nice touch usually on reserved for higher priced Thai golf courses. A basic restaurant serves up tasty local and international dishes.
Royal Bang Pa-In Golf Club
Another gem north of the city, about 30 minutes south of Ayutthaya Golf Club. So visiting this area overnight for some culture and golf is a good idea.
The 18-holes at Royal Bang Pa-In are spread out over 100 hectares. The designer and construction team has turned flat marshland and rice paddies into an impressive modern golf course. Unique features include some of the most massive greens in Asia planted with the latest variety of Champion ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass. The fast speeds and severe undulations make for some very interesting putts which require excellent green reading and lag putting ability just to 2-putt.
As you can see there is not shortage of the best golf in and around Bangkok. These are only some of the more than 50 courses you can find in the area.
