Children’s Day Thailand
January 11, 2025
In Thailand, in addition to celebrations for Mother’s and Father’s Day, there is also a holiday dedicated to children. Wan Dek, or Children’s Day, is celebrated annually on the second Saturday in January.
Wan Dek is historically a day where parents celebrate their children and reinforce good examples and values. Nationally, it is a day to recognize the development that children have made and will make to the future of the country. These days it’s all about children having fun and parents being grateful for the part they play in bonding families and enriching lives.
Thai people celebrate Thai Children’s Day by taking their kids out for fun educational activities. Many public services and establishments, such as the various zoos and wildlife parks throughout the country, Thai Red Cross Museum, Museum Siam, Government House, Parliament House, and various military bases of the Thai navy, army, and air force organize special events for children, many of which are free of charge.
