Vegetarian Festival 2024 Thailand

Thailand’s vegetarian festival is upon us once again. This year, the 9-day event will take place from 3rd to 11th October, with many areas of Bangkok and key cities such as Phuket and Nakhon Sawan showcasing vibrant highlights.  By ‘vegetarian,’ this festival features all things meatless with allium-free. The overall taste is mild and comfortingly delicious. There’s no dairy, no alcohol, and no extreme tastes to assault your system. It’s a wonderful time to explore Thailand and sample the healthy, meat-free delicacies the festival has to offer.

Also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Festival, it is believed that abstinence from meat and stimulants will bring about good health and peace of mind to individuals and the community.

Phuket Vegetarian Festival 2024. Expect vibrant and chaotic processions, with firecrackers being thrown around, lion dances, and coal-walking. You may find people with their cheeks pierced with spears, knives and other paraphernalia. Though it may seem bizarre and even scary to some, and the shutterbugs click away relentlessly, this is not a tourism propaganda. The festival has been celebrated by locals for more than two centuries and each mutilation is their way of sacrificing for the good of the general community.
