World Muay Thai Wai Kru Ceremony

Reinforcing Thai identity through activities that allow international participants to learn, remember, and be impressed, elevating international tourism activities and continuously expanding the quality market base. This is achieved by showcasing the unique “Thai identity,” promoting and creating understanding among
foreigners interested in Muay Thai, highlighting the importance of the Wai Kru ceremony and realizing that “at least once in a lifetime, learning Muay Thai means participating in the Wai Kru ceremony in Thailand.”
Activities include:
– World Muay Thai Wai Kru Ceremony
– Muay Thai Competition
– Demonstrations of Thai martial arts related to combat, such as Sak Yant (
traditional Thai tattooing) and sword making – Demonstrations of Thai self-defense
– Educational exhibition and instruction in ancient Muay Thai.
Schedule for March 16, 2025 (4:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
: 4:00 PM – Demonstrations and training in ancient Muay Thai, including Muay Chaiya, Muay Korat, Muay Tha Sao, and Muay Lopburi
– Booths by Muay Thai camps, including Muay Thai training courses
– Demonstrations of Thai handicrafts, including Sak Yant, Yantra writing, and Aranyik sword making
– Demonstrations of Thai self-defense. Strength testing using ancient Muay Thai training methods
, such as kicking a burlap bag, and a Muay Thai exhibition
– Traditional folk games such as Muay Tab Jak and Muay Talay
– Ayutthaya’s local sweet and savory dishes such as Roti Sai Mai, ancient curries, and Pad Thai noodles.
6:00 PM – Contemporary cultural performance.

, Muay Thai instructors and fighters line up to enter the Wai Kru ceremony area.
At 6:00 PM
, the chairman of the ceremony enters the Muay Thai Wai Kru ceremony area
, followed by the crowning ceremony by Muay Thai masters and a Muay Thai Wai Kru dance.
At 7:30 PM
, the ceremony concludes, and the event proceeds to the banquet area
. At 8:00 PM
, the Deputy Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand gives a thank-you speech
, and the Governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya welcomes the attendees.
At 8:30 PM
, a performance of “Thai Arts and Culture” will be held.
